Trust

One day, i was calmy walking my dog named Tilly in the park. As she is a typical jack russell terrier anything that moves triggers her off, but her favourite is birds! so as there was a load of them across the park and since i never let her off the lead in the morning walk in the park (it’s got a main road very near it and Tilly doesn’t have a good sense of traffic) she decided to try her luck and cheekily yanked the lead out of my hands then went dashing across the park to get the birds. by the time she’d got there they’d all flown away so she was sitting there confused like a puppy. without doubt i chased after her. then she turned around and i told her to ’stay’, i expected her to make a run for it but stood up and waited for me. i was shocked by my lack of trust in her as she stayed as still as ever before. now i let her off the lead all the time there. she always listens and even though she gives the birds a scare has never done any harm to dog, cat, human or herself and she stays away from traffic. the moral of this story is: TRUST your dog.
