Max is a standard black poodle of the dominant variety. My daughter bought him for me as a surprise. I was quite upset at first as my mother was very ill and I didn’t have time to look after a puppy.
My husband looked after Max for me while my mother was sick so I didn’t bond with him at first. However it wasn’t very long before he would come and put his head on my knee and I couldn’t help from falling in love with him.
He has his moments, barking at other dogs when we go for a walk, and pouting when he doesn’t get his way but the most memoral event was when we were watching TV and yes he watches TV quite a bit. A child from a 3rd world country was on and there was no sound on the TV at that time. They just zoomed into her face and you could see her tears coming down. Max look at her and started to cry. I was so amazed that he could recognize this when there was no sound.
Max follows me from room to room most of the time and I find that he is a great consolation for me since my mother’s passing.
Thank you for letting me tell this story.
